The Election Commission will on Tuesday appoint actor Rajkummar Rao, who played the role of a poll official working in Naxal-affected areas of Chhattisgarh in the film 'Newton', as a 'National Icon' . The poll body appoints prominent personalities as 'National Icons' to motivate voters to participate in elections and exercise their right. Rao, in the said movie, was seen as a government clerk who tried all means to ensure a free-and-fair election.
