The government of Goa, India, is planning to ban certain breeds of dogs in an effort to address the increasing number of dog bite incidents in the state. Chief Minister Pramod Sawant stated that the home department and the department of animal husbandry and veterinary services will collaborate to create a list of ferocious dogs that will be prohibited. The ban will be implemented by the police, and owners of banned dogs will be required to vaccinate them to ensure public safety. Goa has reported an average of 90 dog bite incidents daily this year.
