Under the new policy, doctors can choose to retire voluntarily or give up administrative positions and continue working as a medical professional for three more years. Doctors on administrative posts will still retire at 62. This decision will affect around 14,000 doctors working in government healthcare facilities, addressing the shortage of doctors in the sector.
